Simple Candle Making Instructions For Making A Candle At Home

Candle making instructions can often be confusing or misleading for a variety of different reasons, some times the instructions will talk to you as though you know what you’re doing and quickly move through the steps without much detail while other times the instructions will not go over basic procedures that need to be done or at least should be done to make the project easier to manage. If you want to make candles at home then these candle making instructions are for you, simply read along and follow the steps and you will have your own candles in no time at all.

To start off you are going to want to gather the following materials: wax, wick, wick tab, candle mold, double boiler, spoon, thermometer, and a carving knife. If you do not have a double boiler then simply use an empty soup can and a boiling pot, use the soup can as the top pot and the boiling pot as the bottom pot.

Now that you have the needed materials you are ready for the candle making instructions. The first thing that you are going to want to do is to string the wick through the wick tab, now this may be already done for you as you can buy wicks that are already attached to tabs. When this has been completed then prepare the mold by making sure it is both clean and dry, when this is done it is advised that you wipe the inside of the mold with olive oil or vegetable oil as this is going to make it easier later. Now that this is all ready you can move on with the candle making instructions.

Simply cut the wax with the carving knife and place it in to the top pot of the double boiler. Fill the bottom pot of the double boiler with water about half way and boil the water until the wax begins to melt. As the wax melts use the spoon to stir it often and place the thermometer in the wax in order to check the temperature as the wax should be ready at around 150 to 190 degrees. If you so desire, now is the time to add any scents or fragrances to the wax, stir well and pour in to the mold. If you want to be safe you can use a ladle and spoon the wax in to the mold. Wait for around 24 hours, when this time is up simply remove the candle from the mold, trim the wick to about a quarter of an inch and you are done.
